What Will I Learn?

In the first unit of work GCSE Applied Business supports students in investigating the

different types of ownerships organisations have. Students will also learn how organisations add financial value to their company by organising the different functional areas and also understand the importance of stakeholders and customers.

In the second unit of work GCSE Applied Business supports students in investigating how organisations keep financial records.

 How Will I Learn?

GCSE Applied Business students will be taught research skills. You will also enhance your       research skills through the investigation of two businesses. We will not just teach you about market research but you will go out there and carry out your own. You will be able to 'have a go' at many business activities and learn from the experience. The controlled assessments will be based on real businesses that you can relate to.

 How Will I Be Assessed?

 The GCSE in Applied Business comprises of two main units:

  • Unit 1 Controlled Assessment 60%
  • Unit 2 Written Exam 40% (in May/June)

Where Might It Lead?

The GCSE in Applied Business offers opportunities for progression into the following:

  • A related Level 3 business qualifications such as the GCE in Business or BTEC Business.
  • An apprenticeship in Business, administration or law.
  • A broad based preparation for careers in management, accountancy, banking, marketing, retail or simply running your own business.
  • Employment within most local, national and international businesses.
