On Wednesday 4th March, seven of our students attended a focus group session run by the London Metropolitan Police. The forum is part of an initiative to work with young Muslims, engaging with them, and giving them a platform to discuss community and global issues.

The initiative is led by the highest ranking Muslim police officer in Britain, Commander Mak Chishty. The students were commended for their contributions to discussions on fostering greater community cohesion, understanding and dialogue.

Students had the opportunity to discuss with senior police officials about how the Metropolitan Police force can be more understanding of young people. Commander Chishty was impressed by the positive contribution our students made. The workshop will be repeated each month and is a huge honour for our students to be asked to attend and represent the academy.

Our students, Ahlam, Aisha, Mohammed and Aaliya (Year 10) were superbly behaved and were tremendous role models of Nightingale Academy.
