“Our school trip to the West End was truly WICKED!”

- Robel (8C)

On the 18th September Nightingale Academy took a selection of GCSE Music students as well as school production cast members from all years on a trip to the Apollo Victoria Theatre to see the West End’s smash hit musical WICKED.

For the majority of the students some had never stepped inside a professional theatre before let alone one in the heart of theatre land.

Thery (11D) commented “it was amazing! I love to perform and have never had the opportunity to go to the West End before. The theatre was huge! I would love to be professional performer when I’m older” – and she is certainly on the right track now into her second year on the GCSE Music course.

Not only were the students impressed in the auditorium but front of house staff at the Apollo commended Nightingale students for their behaviour and noted that they have never had a school group in so eager to write down notes on the show during the interval!

“Our students were overwhelmed by the grandeur of the theatre, and the excitement only grew as the overture commenced and the stage came alive giving most of them their first cultural theatrical experience. Watching their faces mesmerised by the show was somewhat emotional and even by the interval they were either singing or speechless! Incredible” – Miss Stoddard trip leader

The spectacular, multi award winning stage musical has become the most spellbinding and successful new musicals in years. If you want to know more about the show, please visit the website:
