Teaching & Learning

Modern society demands high quality teaching and learning from teachers.

Teachers have to possess a great deal of knowledge and skills with regard to both teaching and assessment practices in order to meet those demands and standards of quality education.
Teacher learning is a continuous process that promote teachers’ teaching skills, mastering of new knowledge, developing new proficiency, which in turn, help improve students’ learning.
In response to this we have created our own Teaching and Learning Hub for our staff to access.
This bespoke resource is available only to NTA staff and will provide them with a wealth of T&L resources, videos and pedagogical information to enable them to provide truly Outstanding lessons to our students.

At Nightingale Academy, we provide a stimulating environment dedicated to ensuring that every child achieves their academic potential.

Our aim is for all our students to receive consistently stimulating and inspiring lessons which focus on:

  • Developing reading, writing and oracy skills
  • Developing numeracy skills
  • Challenging all students to expand their subject skills, knowledge and understanding
  • Using teacher expertise to enable students to make better than expected progress
  • High quality planning and resources, with a range of interactive strategies employed
  • Personalised learning to cater for the needs of all students, including those with SEND and the More Able
  • Students working collaboratively with peers
  • Checking students' understanding, with teachers intervening where additional support is needed
  • High quality marking and feedback, with students set specific improvement targets.
  • Independent study, which continues outside the classroom
  • Rewarding students for both academic achievement and personal effort
We want every child to acquire the skills and resilience needed to equip them for the next stages of their life-long learning journey in further education or the world of work, and we are dedicated to ensuring students achieve their full academic potential in their years with us.
